13-December-2005 I Started the plug for the ½ of the body 2 weeks ago. I now have all the ribs assembled on the Crutch from the firewall to the center of the cockpit. I have picture but will not post them until I get the plug POLYSTYRENE foamed and hot wired. REMEMBER that hot-wiring polyurthane will KILL YOU in a matter of a few seconds. 8-November-2005 ½ of the prototype main wing spar was cut and assembled. Looks like we have a good design. I will make the other half for the prototype model this weekend. 2-Sept-2005 Worked on the wings and I created a CAD Model of what they will look like. I also have the material to build the first spar. I look forward to seeing if I can use a several ton farm tractor to break it! 3-August-2005 What is left and an estimate of work needed: Body 15 hours away from prototype Main gear 25 hours away from prototype Tail gear 30 hours away from prototype Canopy 5 Hrs Windshield 6 Hrs HStab 9 Hrs VStab 7 Hrs WING Ribs 8 hrs Includes 3D modeling Main Spar 10 hrs Rear Spar 4 hrs Investment dollars needed for prototype: $9500 SPECS AIRCRAFT: 70% (69% actual) Body: 19ft-6½" Wing: 25ft-10" Fiberglass or Carbon-fiber Preformed surfaces (All surfaces will be vacuum infused) ENGINE: Rotec 9 Cylinder (150+ HP) GEAR: Spring Type Hydraulic Lift, Manual override hand pump Standard Hydraulic Disk breaks Retractable steerable tail 17-July-2005 Using software, I generated the tail and then built it for the prototype. 5-14-2005 The body designs are almost complete. The scale foam body is going thru the last stages before we fiberglass the body. I still hope to have it with me at Oshkosh this year. If it is complete enough, I will ask the Replica Fighters Assoc. to put it on display in their club house. Tonight, I will be working on the new main wing spar design. 1-31-2005 Progress is slow as we are focusing on producing parts to fill existing orders. 12-10-2004 A totally new tail gear will be used that will use a type of clamp-on fixture that will adjust to the birdcage. This design will fit any version of birdcage and add strength. Also, the new design will allow stress from hard landings to be equally distributed rather than ALL the stress concentrating at the hinge point. Because the whole thing is mounted under the frame, it becomes a no brainer to install. When finished, you will need to order the entire assembly. No pieces and parts and looking for someone to make it for you. ...it will be a complete package solution. Oh! It IS stearable too! I will post print pictures when they are ready. 9-20-2004 As NuLANteks facility is being borrowed by the landlord for an unknown period of time, work on the AT6 and F2G have stopped and we started work on the Bearcat. The Bearcat will be designed and scaled around the R2800 Radial that NuLANtek is authorized to sell. We are looking at 2 GA airfoils. Folding wings are being considered. ============================== We are discussing creating a Bearcat in to versions. The first will be a standard WAR wood birdcage and standard parts. The next version will be a bit larger and designed around the R2800 Radial engine and will come with a vacuum infusion body made of fiberglass and available in carbon fiber.
