ENGINE
WAR FW 190 with 5 hp engine loaned to the author and attached to aircraft by a group of over enthusiastic pilot friends who can't wait to see this bird fly!  The author will be using a modyfied and converted 140 hp Lycoming 290D.
These are my freshly overhauled and painted engine Lycoming 290 casing parts and cylinders. These parts were put in a cleaning tank and taken down to the bare metal.  They were repaired within tolerances and then painted with high temperature engine paints.  The re-assembling process began right after this picture was taken. The engine is almost finished now.
I will trade in my "core" mags and carburetor for new ones.  When finished, this engine will be installed on the "new", "beefed up" engine mount!  I will be adding an inverted oil system, and a small lightweight oil-smoke system.
I am considering an electronic ignition system in place of one mag.  I know a vari-eze that uses this system without loss of power at altitude.  I am also looking into a simple fuel injection system to either modify or replace the carburetor for sustained inverted flight.
